She’s a self-described “workaholic.” While some bosses want their employees to work harder and care more, with Jan Allen—“Mama Jan”—it’s just the opposite: We wish she’d slow down a bit. Our customers might not ever see or hear her, but her presence is ubiquitous behind the scenes. She’s making sure the office is running smoothly 24/7. Well, maybe 20/7. She sometimes sleeps for an hour or two. The other two hours she spends on a movie or working in her yard. When she’s not working, she’s thinking about working. When she’s not thinking about working, she giving to other people. (She’s one of the most generous people you could ever meet). Jan has been with Bruce part-time since 1985—two years after its founding—and full-time since 1991. And we are full of nothing but gratitude for her dedication and daily graciousness.
